Snow Days

I can't believe the time has come to worry about possible snow days!

So what happens if a snow day occurs?

Well, hopefully we have some idea it is coming. If we know, the district might send devices home the night before. On a snow day, your child will need to complete all work through Canvas. Their teacher should have already shown them how to get into it and how to find their homework for the day. However, I want to explain to you about library time.

You mean, our child has homework in library?

Short answer is yes. However, they only have to do library work IF that is a day they normally would have library.

How do we know if it is a library day?

On every class page in Canvas, there is a Snow Day button. If their class is supposed to have library, then that button will be activated. Just click the button, and work on anything on the library site for 10-15 minutes.

How do you know if they complete the work?

After they have been working for 10-15 minutes, students are asked to complete the Google Form to the right side of the button. That is the way attendance is taken for library. Please help your child with this form. They will need to pick what school they are at as well as put down their class name, teacher name or grade level.

As always, if you have any questions or issues during a snow day, feel free to email me at: krystine.reavis@k12.sd.us
